The featured recipe above is for Easy Burrito Bowls. Mexican is a favorite at my house. However, everyone likes different toppings for their bowls. This is what I like to call a “complaint-free” recipe! My family picks what they like and leaves what they don’t. Watching your carb intake? Reduce or eliminate the rice. Going vegetarian? Skip the chicken and increase the beans and/or cheese. The possibilities are endless. My teenager likes traditional burritos, so I’ll occasionally heat one up for him and he puts it together the way he likes it. You can get the recipe here!
I’ve learned over my the course of my cooking adventures that recipes are organic. In the past, I’d dismiss a recipe if it had two or three ingredients I didn’t care for. Now, if I like the basic recipe, I’ll improvise and change the recipe to suit my tastes. I urge you to do the same with the recipes you find here! I try to offer suggestions and keep things flexible. After all, our home kitchen is not a restaurant and we sometimes need to get creative with what we have on hand.
Below are a few of my favorite recipes here at Dishing Up Dinner. Enjoy!
